Founder & Lead Builder, A.S.V. Creations Inc.
"If I wouldn't put it in my own backyard, I don't build it in yours."
Lervin started the way most people in this trade do — on someone else's crew, hauling pavers and running line under somebody else's name on the truck. Before there was an A.S.V. Creations, there were years of other people's job sites: different crews, different standards, different ideas of what "good enough" meant.
That stretch taught him two things. First, how a yard actually comes together, layer by layer — the grading nobody sees, the drainage that either works for ten years or fails in one winter, the difference between a paver that's close to level and one that actually is. Second, how much gets lost when the person who draws the plan never has to be the one who builds it, or when a job gets handed off to a subcontractor with no stake in the outcome.
By the time he started A.S.V. Creations, he'd seen enough of that hand-off problem to know exactly what he wanted to do differently: keep every trade in-house — design, landscape, hardscape, pools — with Lervin as the one point of contact from the first sketch to the final walkthrough. A.S.V. doesn't subcontract any part of a project out. Every person on site is A.S.V.'s own team.
Lervin walks every property before it's ever bid, and he's on site while it's built — not just at the kickoff and the final walkthrough. He's the one who'll catch a paver that's a hair off level or a shrub planted leaning wrong, usually before anyone else would even notice. It's less a management style than just how he was trained to work, and it's the standard he holds every one of his teams to.
He's built the company the same way he builds a yard — one project at a time, word of mouth, over the better part of a decade — across Southern California, the same neighborhoods he calls home. He'd rather scope a project to fit what a family actually wants to spend than turn one away, which is why A.S.V. takes on everything from a single hardscape update to a full resort-style build.
"Building to create memories" isn't a line A.S.V. picked off a template. It's the reason Lervin started the company in the first place — and the reason he's still the one showing up on site.
